DEF LEPPARD Has No Plans To Celebrate 40th Anniversary

March 13, 2017

During a brand new interview with Jack Antonio of the "Do You Know Jack?" radio show, DEF LEPPARD guitarist Phil Collen was asked if the band has any plans to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of its formation this year. Collen responded (hear audio below): "No. It's 'Hysteria''s thirty-year anniversary, so we're probably gonna do something to kind of celebrate that. It's our biggest-selling album, and so we're grateful for that. So, yeah, maybe that one, I think."

He continued: "The fortieth thing is a bit… It's not exactly tangible. It's kind of… You know, the guys met on a certain date — Sav [DEF LEPPARD bassist Rick Savage] and Joe [Elliott, DEF LEPPARD singer] did. But the first album came out in 1980, so that's really… If we were gonna be [inducted into the] Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, they actually take it from your first album. So 1980 is the actual date, I think."

Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame rules state that artists become eligible for induction 25 years after their first records were released.

DEF LEPPARD's co-headlining tour with POISON and special guest TESLA will kick off on April 8 in Manchester, New Hampshire and will wrap on June 25 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In October 2015, DEF LEPPARD released its eleventh album, titled "Def Leppard", which peaked at No. 10 on The Billboard 200 album chart.
